Dr Atif Ahmad is Professor of Cybersecurity Practice at the University of Melbourne and Director of Melbourne Security Associates based in Malaysia. Over 25 years, he has conducted 40+ organizational case studies on cyber incident response and defense against advanced persistent threats. Since 2022, Atif has led Australian government-funded research teams doing cyber capacity building work in Malaysia working directly with national agencies on strategy development and operational transformation. The Malaysian National Security Council named Atif a Subject Matter Expert for the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2025-2030. Through Melbourne Security Associates, Atif trains board directors, C-suite executives, and senior government officials from Malaysia’s critical infrastructure sectors and government ministries. His research focuses on how organizations develop the strategic mindset and operational frameworks needed to defend against organized and sophisticated cyber threat actors.
