Anselm Chang is a Principal Energy Strategist in Distributed Energy at AGL Energy, one of Australia’s largest energy companies, where he shapes and delivers investment in distributed energy resources and virtual power plants across the National Electricity Market. Inside AGL, his work sits at a rare intersection: he is in the room when investment decisions are made, and accountable for delivering them. He built Australia’s first retailer-run virtual power plant, led the first direct retailer integration into the national grid operator’s frequency control market, developed machine-learning systems for price forecasting and dispatch optimisation, and led the business case to bring AGL’s distributed energy management platform in-house.
