Ir John Panil is currently COO of SIDC. Started his career as an engineer with a government department, and then as a Project officer with a development bank. After spending 4 years in development banking, he joined a GLC involving in property development and construction as a project engineer. He retired as the General Manager of the company after about 30 years’ service. Upon retirement, Ir John Panil was appointed on contract basis by the Sarawak Research and Development Council to assist overseeing the physical development of the Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre. As the COO of SIDC Sdn Bhd, Ir John Panil continues to assist with the physical development of the SIDC facilities, which is expected to be completed by mid-2027. Ir John Panil has had previous experience as: -Chairman of Sarawak Branch Institution of Engineers, Malaysia -Part-time lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) and University Technology Sarawak (UTS) -Adjunct Professor, UNIMAS -Currently member of External Advisory Committee (Civil engineering) at SUT and UTS He is a Professional Engineer (with practising certificate) and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia.
