Dr. Saaveethya Sivakumar is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Curtin University Malaysia. Her research focuses on digital health, artificial intelligence (AI), wearable sensing, machine learning, and intelligent healthcare systems, with applications in disease detection, rehabilitation monitoring, and clinical decision support. Her current research includes the development of AI-driven gait analysis systems and non-invasive wearable technologies for diabetes detection and monitoring using motion and biomechanical data. She works closely with healthcare providers, industry partners, and government agencies to translate research into practical healthcare solutions. Dr. Saaveethya is the recipient of the SDEC Strategic Collaboration Research Grant and leads several multidisciplinary projects in digital health and applied AI. She is also a member of the SDEC Big Data and Data Analytics Keylab, contributing to initiatives that support innovation and digital transformation in Sarawak.
Beyond academia, she is actively involved in professional leadership through IEEE. She currently serves as the IEEE Young Professionals Global Chair, representing a global community of over 155,000 members across more than 160 countries. Her contributions to the engineering profession have been recognised through the IEEE MGA Young Professionals Achievement Award and the IEEE Malaysia Section Women in Engineering Outstanding Volunteer Award. Dr. Saaveethya is passionate about advancing AI-enabled healthcare technologies and collaborations that create meaningful impact for communities, industry, and society.
