Yau Wai Yeong is the Director of Solutions Architecture for Intel’s Smart Cities & Transportation Team within the Health & Cities Division, Edge Computing Group. With more than 22 years of experience in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, he specializes in Smart Cities, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Edge Computing, and digital transformation. Based in Malaysia, Yau leads solution architecture and ecosystem enablement initiatives across the Asia Pacific and Japan region, collaborating with governments, city authorities, transportation agencies, system integrators, software vendors, and industry partners to advance AI-powered Smart City innovations. His expertise spans public safety, intelligent transportation, critical infrastructure, urban sustainability, computer vision, video analytics, Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision Language Models (VLMs), and edge AI technologies. Throughout his career at Intel, he has played a key role in enabling ecosystem partnerships and driving the adoption of emerging technologies that deliver measurable outcomes for cities and communities. Yau holds a Master of Engineering in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from RMIT University, Australia, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering from Multimedia University (MMU), Malaysia. He is passionate about building smart, sustainable, resilient, and citizen-centric cities through innovation and ecosystem collaboration.
