D2TF01

Speaker:

Honorable Dato Sri Haji Julaihi Bin Haji Narawi – Minister of Utility and Telecommunication

D2TF02

Keynote Speaker:

Dr. Catherine Ball – Scientific Futurist, Bestselling Author & Australian Business Woman of the Year

Synopsis:

In this keynote, bestselling author, scientific futurist and Australian Business Woman of the Year Dr Catherine Ball explores the next great technological shift: not simply the rise of artificial intelligence, but the convergence of AI with robotics, autonomous systems, spatial intelligence, synthetic biology, quantum technologies, advanced materials and the emerging green economy. Drawing on the ideas from her bestselling book Converge, Catherine explains why the most profound opportunities of the next decade will emerge at the intersections between technologies, industries and disciplines.

Rather than focusing on AI hype or dystopian predictions, she presents an optimistic and practical framework for building what she calls “tech with a soul”: technological progress designed around human flourishing, environmental stewardship, resilience and trust. For Sarawak, this creates an extraordinary opportunity.

From precision agriculture, biodiversity and rainforest monitoring to autonomous systems, smart infrastructure, renewable energy, carbon markets, the bio-economy and next-generation digital services, Sarawak has the ingredients to become not simply an adopter of emerging technology, but a global demonstration ground for responsible innovation. This keynote looks at how governments, businesses and communities can move from experimenting with individual technologies to building ecosystems where technologies converge to solve real-world problems.

D2TF03

Keynote Speaker:

Abel Deng – President of the Middle East & Asia Pacific Region, AGIBOT

Synopsis:

From Digital AI to Physical AI, AGIBOT is pioneering the advancement of general-purpose AI robotics, with embodied AI at the core of its technology. Through its “Three Intelligences in One” architecture, AGIBOT integrates Locomotion Intelligence, Interaction Intelligence, and Manipulation Intelligence into a unified embodied system, enabling robots not only to perceive and understand the physical world, but also to move, interact, and perform real-world tasks.

More importantly, AGIBOT believes that robots are built to create real productivity. By bringing embodied intelligence from technological innovation into practical applications, AGIBOT is accelerating the deployment of intelligent robots across industries and exploring how Physical AI can become a new productive force for businesses and society.

Moderator:

Prof. Bakri Madon – Lecturer, i-CATS University College

Panellist:

Shariman Bin Jamil – Chief Executive Officer, SMD
Gary Chew – Deputy Chief Executive Officer, X-Fab Malaysia

Synopsis:

The global chip supply chain is being rebuilt, and ASEAN is next in line to capture it. As manufacturers race to de-risk from Taiwan and China, the region’s next export hub is still up for grabs, and Malaysia already has real pieces on the board: design capability, real foundry capacity, and a national investment engine built to close the deal. In this session, the CEOs of SMD, X-Fab and MIDA come together for a rare, straight-talking look at what it actually takes to turn a domestic chip industry into a genuine regional export powerhouse, and why Malaysia’s window to make that move is now.

D2TF05

Moderator:

Ts. Hamadlan Bin Haji Hamdan – Chief Digital Officer, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC)

Panellist:

Prof. Saurabh Sinha – University of Canterbury, New Zealand
Ganendra Selvaraj – Chief Commercial Officer, MEASAT
Ilyas Nordin – Head of Product & Commercialisation, SACOFA

Synopsis:

Sarawak’s digital ambitions depend on connectivity that reaches everyone, everywhere, from Kuching’s city centre to longhouses deep in the interior, and outwards to the rest of ASEAN and the world. This session looks at how that connectivity ecosystem is being built across every layer: fibre and tower networks on the ground, subsea links to the wider region, and satellite capacity in orbit. Bringing together a leading infrastructure provider, a national satellite operator and an academic perspective on next-generation networks, the panel explores how these layers can work as one seamless system, what emerging technologies such as low-earth-orbit satellites and 6G mean for the state, and how a “borderless” Sarawak, where geography no longer limits opportunity, can be made a reality.

D2TF06

Speakers:

Prof. Patrick Then – Chief Executive Officer, Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre (SAIC)

Synopsis:

Quantum computing and artificial intelligence are converging into the next great technological frontier. Together, they will redefine how nations compute, compete and protect what matters most.

In this keynote, the CEO of the Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre (SAIC) sets out how Sarawak intends to engage this frontier as a builder, not merely an adopter. Quantum-enhanced AI could deliver step changes in energy optimisation, advanced materials, healthcare and climate resilience, sectors where Sarawak has natural strengths. The same quantum capability, however, threatens the cryptographic foundations of today’s digital economy. Sovereign AI therefore requires sovereign security.

The session outlines SAIC’s perspective on preparing Sarawak for the quantum era. That starts with building quantum-ready AI infrastructure, adopting post-quantum cryptography and cryptographic agility, developing specialised talent, and shaping governance that keeps innovation trusted and secure.

As Sarawak advances its AI and digital economy agenda toward 2030, the choices made now will determine who leads and who follows. Sarawak’s ambition is clear: to be a regional producer of AI solutions, with security and resilience built in from the start. The frontier will not wait for us. Sarawak must be ready to lead it.

D2TF07

Moderator:

Razali Bin Talib – Vice President of Corporate Strategy, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC)

Panellist:

Ts. Anusha Magendram – Assistant Vice President, MIGHT; Vice Chairman, Malaysia Smart City Alliance (MSCA)
Devid Gubiani – Chairman, Neuronet Borneo
Che Juhan Che Mat – Chief National Sovereign AI Cloud Officer, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)

Bringing together infrastructure, computing and national perspectives, the discussion will examine how compute can be distributed, optimised and governed to support businesses, government services, research and emerging applications. It will also consider what is required to move beyond infrastructure build-out towards an Al ecosystem that is scalable, efficient, accessible and capable of delivering sustained economic and societal value.

D2TF08

Speakers:

Ganesh Kumar Bangah – Chairman, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)

Synopsis:

Agentic AI, systems that don’t just answer questions but plan, decide, and act on their own, is moving from pilot projects into daily business operations faster than most leaders have accounted for. For SMEs, the threat isn’t that AI will replace their people; it’s that competitors who adopt it first will out-execute those who wait. But for most business owners, that leaves an uncomfortable problem statement: adoption is necessary, but it isn’t cheap, and the cost of getting started can feel like the very thing standing between “adopt” and “be replaced.” In this keynote, Ganesh Kumar, Chairman of MDEC, confronts that tension directly, why the cost of inaction now outweighs the cost of adoption, and what leadership actually looks like when the right move isn’t in question but the resources to make it are.

D2TF09

Speakers:

Zulkifli Abdul Aziz – Chief Executive Officer, Sarawak Space Agency

Synopsis:

Sarawak’s ambitions in space are no longer theoretical — from launch infrastructure to satellite capability, the building blocks of a genuine space economy are taking shape on the ground. This keynote traces that journey, from the state’s earliest steps into the space sector to its emerging role in the broader commercial space landscape, and lays out what it will take for Sarawak to move from aspiring participant to credible player in the new space economy. It sets the tone for the conversations that follow, grounding the day’s broader discussion of orbit, infrastructure and investment in Sarawak’s own, very real starting point.

Tan Sri Dato Sri Affendi Buang – Chairman, Sarawak Space Agency
Anthony Ng Mun Sun – Chief Executive Officer, MIT Aerospace
Yang Xilong – Deputy Director, Times Feipeng Technology

Synopsis:

Low earth orbit is no longer just the domain of national space agencies, it’s becoming an investable, commercial layer of infrastructure in its own right. This panel brings together the operators building LEO satellite connectivity for underserved communities, the state institutions shaping Sarawak’s own aerospace ambitions, and the industrial and capital partners backing the sector’s growth internationally.

The conversation examines what actually makes up the “low orbit economy” today: satellite-as-a-service connectivity, ground infrastructure, launch and spaceport capability, and the industrial partnerships required to build any of it credibly. Closing IDECS’s space narrative, this session moves past ambition to the practical question underneath it, what it takes for a state like Sarawak to become a genuine participant in this emerging economy, not just a consumer of the connectivity it produces.

D2TF12

Speakers:

YB Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Bin Ali Hasan – Deputy Premier of Sarawak

Synopsis:

As IDECS marks its 10th edition in 2027, YB Datuk Haji Amar Awang Tengah bin Ali Hasan looks back on how the conference has grown alongside Sarawak’s digital ambitions, from its first gathering to a key regional platform.

He reflects on the milestones, partnerships and lessons that have shaped the state’s digital economy over the past decade. He then sets out the road ahead, and what the next phase of Sarawak’s digital transformation means for its people, industry and investors.

It examines how short-form and social platforms have reshaped creator monetisation, through algorithmic discovery, brand partnerships and audience-building, alongside the business and design fundamentals that determine whether creative IP scales into a sustainable enterprise rather than a one-off hit. The conversation looks at what separates creators and businesses who build lasting value from their content from those who create well but monetise poorly, and where Sarawak’s own creative and digital talent can position themselves in that shift.

Practical rather than theoretical, the session offers a grounded look at how platforms, creators and the businesses built around them are actually making money from content in 2026, and what founders, creators and institutions need to get right to do the same.
